Department of Geography

Established in 2019, the Department of Geography at Chirchik State Pedagogical University is a pivotal center for training qualified geography educators. It focuses on developing students' geographical knowledge and pedagogical skills. The department aims to raise the subject's prestige, expand international collaborations, and foster innovative research, particularly in geoinformation systems and various aspects of human, physical, and economic geography, including tourism and agricultural land use.

DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY

Year of Establishment: 2019 Address: Chirchik State Pedagogical University, Building 2, Room 304.

The Department of Geography was established on August 29, 2019, by Decision No. 1 of the Council of Tashkent Region Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute. Previously, it operated within the "Natural Sciences" department, but later separated as an independent department. Currently, the department serves as a core for Geography, and Geography and Fundamentals of Economic Knowledge specializations.


DEPARTMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Department Mission: The main task of the Department of Geography is to train qualified geography teachers for educational institutions in the country, develop students' subject-specific skills, and form their pedagogical competence.

Our Objectives:

  • To increase the prestige of the science of geography within the republic and improve the quality of education.
  • Expand international cooperation – establish partnerships with universities, the scientific community, and educational projects.
  • Develop the research environment – study geoinformation systems and become an innovative center for geographical and pedagogical research.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH DIRECTIONS AND PROJECTS

The Department of Geography conducts scientific research in several strategic directions. The following directions aim to conduct scientific research that meets modern educational requirements, expand cooperation with national and international scientific communities, and achieve practical results:

  • Modern problems of population geography and demography: This scientific direction focuses on studying issues such as population size, dynamics, distribution, age-sex, racial, national, religious compositions, population change, birth rates, mortality, natural and mechanical reproduction, population migration and factors influencing it, reproduction of population and labor resources, and population employment (Sh.Qurbonov, F.Dusmanov).
  • Improving the territorial organization of agricultural sectors: This scientific direction aims to evaluate natural and economic-geographical factors influencing the specialization and development of agricultural sectors in our country, and to study their impact on the territorial organization of crop and livestock farming (F.Rajabov, J.Namozov).
  • Research on physical geography: Attention is paid to the development of physical geography in our country, morphostructure of basins, changes in river lower reaches under the influence of anthropogenic factors, and issues of land meliorative improvement (A.Urazbayev, Sh.Ibroimov).
  • Geographical features of tourism and recreational activity development: This scientific direction focuses on studying the geographical problems and prospects of developing domestic and international tourism in Uzbekistan based on natural and historical-cultural tourist-recreational resources (Sh.Qurbonov, L.Djurayeva).
  • Modern methods of teaching geography: This scientific direction is aimed at improving modern pedagogical technologies used in teaching geography courses (O.Abdimurodov, S.Djumaboyeva).
  • Economic-geographical features of irrigated land use: This scientific direction studies the economic-geographical features of irrigated land use from an agricultural perspective (J.Namozov).
