International Summer School launched at CSPU: Day 1 successfully completed
Within the framework of the multilateral cooperation agreement between the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (Leibniz-Institut für Deutsche Sprache, IDS, Mannheim, Germany) and higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of German studies, an international summer school on empirical German linguistics has been launched at Chirchik State Pedagogical University.
On April 13, 2026, the first day of the summer school was successfully held. According to the programme, the day began with:
an introduction to IDS and the lecturers;
a presentation of IDS research resources (corpora and digital databases);
an overview of modern opportunities in linguistic research.
During the day, Professor Stefan Engelberg delivered a lecture entitled “Das Lexikon aus korpuslinguistischer Perspektive – Der Wortschatz”.
In the second half of the day, within the framework of a philological conference, current issues such as multilingualism, language identity, and the relationship between language norms and actual usage were discussed.
The event is actively attended by teachers, master’s students and undergraduates from various higher education institutions across the country.
The summer school represents a practical outcome of the successful cooperation between CSPU and IDS and contributes significantly to the development of an international academic environment at the university.
